Halloween Activities for School
Halloween is right around the corner and if you are like some of my friends Halloween is more likely to make you sing “It is the most wonderful time of the year” than Christmas is. Some of you may have had your Halloween costumes picked out forever or maybe you are doing a fun group costume with the other teachers in your grade. Likewise, you may be planning a one day Halloween Party or you may want Halloween activities for school for the whole month of October. The Halloween activities below can be used either over the entire month of October or a part of Halloween party on Halloween.

Halloween Activities for School #1 Boom Cards
One of the great Halloween activities for school that can be used for the whole month are boom cards. If you have not used boom cards before you are missing out. They are one of the resources that I love the most and use daily in my classes. One of the reasons that I love them is they are self grading, so students get automatic feedback. Then I can see how students are doing on them and exactly what problems they are having trouble with. That way I can review those items. Plus, they are so interactive, students love them, and they are perfect for math centers or computer/ipad time.
Halloween Multiplication Drills
The ones that I pull out at Halloween are definitely my Halloween Multiplication Drills. These are one of the first things that I made on Boom Cards. They will have your students mastering their multiplication tables either from 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, or 10-12. If you want all of them you can also grab the Halloween Multiplication Drills Bundle.
My favorite thing to do with my students after they finish this activity is to ask them what their favorite clip art character was. It is nice to see them connect over having the same favorite etc. You could also implement cross curriculum activities by having them take their favorite character and write a story about them. Students can also tell the story orally to practice their story telling skills.
Spot the Match Halloween Edition
Another fun Halloween Activity which is a great resource from one of my teacher seller friends (LOL Life of Learning), actually one of my friends from my mastermind groups is a spot the match game specifically a Halloween edition. This is a set of cards where students have to find the cards that match. It goes over numbers and addition and subtraction through 20. It is also a very fun game that students can play in math centers throughout the month of October or at a party.

Halloween Activities for School #2 Coloring Pages
Another one of the great Halloween activities for school is coloring pages. I really enjoy using coloring pages with students that are early finishers. I need something that these students can easily do while other students are waiting. It is really easy for them to have a coloring page in their folders and then to pull it out while other students are finishing their work. I also really enjoy using coloring pages as a way to help students transition back into the classroom after lunch or recess. This is something that I learned worked well when I was a sub teacher for a little bit.
I have a set of Halloween Coloring Pages for my subscribers. These coloring pages have 5 different halloween themed scenes. They include bats, Jack o Lanterns, spiders and more. In order to grab this set of halloween coloring pages click the picture below to become a subscriber.
Halloween Activities for School #3 Halloween Bingo
One more great Halloween activity for school is Halloween Bingo. Another one of my friends from my mastermind group and at Little Learners Toolbox. Has a great Halloween bingo game that is available for print out and digitally. This is a perfect activity to do during a Halloween party. It is perfect for lower level elementary students to help them recognize pictures and potentially even start associating words with those pictures. You could also give little prizes for winning the game that can make kids even more excited to play.
Halloween Activities for School #4 Candy Bar Graphing Polls
Next, candy bar graphing polls are great Halloween activities for school. These will have your students working in math and also looking at how to conduct surveys. You can do polls of your class on what are the best candy bars and also what are the worst candy bars. You can first have students say their favorites and least favorites and create data polls with that information. You also could choose a couple of candy bars and have the class vote for which are their favorites or least favorites. Then you can have them create bar graphs and pie graphs to teach students how to make these types of graphs. Also, if you want to teach them how to conduct a survey. You can have them ask students outside of your class and also ask their families at home and build bar graphs and pie graphs off of the polling information that they got.
Halloween Activities for School #5 Costume Parades
One of the last great Halloween activities for school that is perfect for a Halloween party is a costume parade. You can have your students either walk around your classroom or even coordinate with other teachers and have the students walk around the halls to show off their costumes to everyone. Overall, this is just a fun thing to do for the kids that will give them confidence.
I hope that you benefited from this post and got plenty of ideas of what to do for Halloween in your class this year. If you benefited from this post please share it with your friends.
