Easter Math Activities #1

Easter Egg Math Hunt

What better way to start your Easter math activities than with a hunt? This Easter egg math hunt will not only get your child excited about math, but it will also help them to hone their addition skills. This math activity is perfect for a group of kids. You will need a dozen plastic eggs (or however many you decide), a large bowl, some paper and pencils, and a stopwatch. Write math equations on each egg as well as a point value this can be arbitrary or based on how hard the math problems are. Kids will have to find the eggs around the classroom or your house and solve the math problems correctly to get the points whoever has more points by the end of the game wins. You have to tell them they have to solve one problem though before they can go and find another egg this way you don’t have kids collecting all the eggs before solving any math problems. You can also play it that if they get the problem wrong they have to rehide the eggs so someone else can have a chance. This can work with any math problem and can be differentiated for your kids.

Easter Math Activities #3

Easter Ten Frames

A fun thing you can do while coloring eggs is to use Easter ten frames to help your child write numbers. If your child is having trouble understanding numbers, this Easter math activity can help immensely. You can use these frames to transform numbers into a visual representation. This will help your child to understand numbers and how they relate to each other more easily. For this activity you will need a basic ten frame and then easter themed mini erasers or easter cut outs to put in the ten frames you could even use stickers but you probably want something that is a little more moveable since kids will be counting adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc with the items in the ten frames so they will have to manipulate them in certain ways.
